Jennifer Poon, MScPT
Registered Physiotherapist
Jennifer Poon earned her Master of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Alberta, preceded by a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences with Distinction. Her fascination with the intricacies of the human body and the deep satisfaction of building patient relationships solidified her commitment to physiotherapy. With experience spanning across varied demographics, from paediatric to geriatric patients, Jennifer champions a patient-centric approach. Recognizing the uniqueness of each individual, she meticulously tailors treatment programs to align with their specific requirements. Her methodology underscores the power of therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, and patient education, all converging to foster optimum recovery. Her aim is not only to address immediate concerns but to instill a long-lasting sense of self-management and empowerment in her patients. Outside the professional realm, Jennifer maintains an active lifestyle by engaging in diverse fitness routines, including boxing, dance, and weight training. Her weekends are often spent cherishing moments with loved ones or delving into the city's culinary scene, often penning insightful mini-reviews of her gastronomic discoveries.

Noman Anwari, MScPT BSc (Hons)
Registered Physiotherapist, Clinic Owner/Director

Noman's academic background includes a master's degree in Physical Therapy from the esteemed University of Alberta, complemented by a bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences (with honours) and a minor in Psychology, earned at York University in Toronto. His extensive educational journey has equipped him with a solid foundation in healthcare and a deep understanding of human physiology. With a wealth of experience, Noman has effectively assessed and treated patients grappling with chronic pain, musculoskeletal injuries, and sports-related injuries. He holds certifications and has pursued advanced training in concussion and vestibular rehabilitation, spinal manipulations and he is an IMS/dry needling specialist. His treatment approach encompasses various modalities such as manual therapy, corrective exercises, IMS/Functional Dry Needling, K-tape bracing, and electrical modalities, all aimed at facilitating his patients' return to their cherished activities and lifestyles. Beyond his professional pursuits, Noman is an avid outdoor enthusiast, finding joy in hiking and participating in sports like soccer and baseball. His commitment to a healthy lifestyle is further evident through his regular workouts at the gym. Furthermore, he demonstrates his dedication to the community by volunteering at the Alberta Hospital and CASA Edmonton, where he extends his support to youth and families grappling with mental health conditions. Noman Anwari's impressive credentials, commitment to ongoing learning, and passion for helping others make him a valuable asset in the field of physiotherapy and a compassionate advocate for mental health in the community.

Gerald Gosselin, MRSc BScPT
Registered Physiotherapist

Gerald holds a Master of Science in Rehabilitation Medicine from the University of British Columbia as well as a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Alberta. 
Gerald is a highly skilled physiotherapist with extensive post-graduate education, specializing in various areas such as Functional Dry Needling, Manual Spinal Therapy, Acupuncture, Sports Trauma Management, and Sports Nutrition. Over the last 20 years he has been the Head Physical Therapist for various Cirque du Soleil touring productions travelling around the world.  Previously, he worked in private practice and was the Head Trainer for the UofA women’s soccer team. He is fluently bilingual (French and English). His extensive experience combined with his focus on health and wellness has helped his patients from all backgrounds achieve their goals. Gerald lives in the neighbourhood but continues to explore the world with his wife and two school aged girls.

Ed Steinbring, PT BSc.
Registered Physiotherapist

Graduated from University of Alberta in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. Ed joined the team at Strathcona Physical Therapy in 1983 and became partner in 1984. In addition to practicing, Ed is an associate clinical professor at the University of Alberta in both Dentistry/Medicine and Rehabilitation Medicine Faculties.
Ed has completed post-graduate courses/certificated in: Temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ), acupuncture, sports injury rehabilitation and manipulative therapy.
Ed has competed in numerous triathlons including two half iron man, two iron mans and several world champions.

Martin Parfitt
Registered Physiotherapist
After working at Strathcona Physical Therapy for 40+ years Martin has officially retired. Martin will be greatly missed at Strathcona Physical Therapy but we wish him the best in his retirement! We will continue to see TMJ patients in his absence. Our Therapist, have specialized training and we have 20+ years working with the University of Alberta Dentistry and Oral Facial Pain Clinic.

Justin Long M.C.P.
Registered Psychologist

Justin Long is a highly educated and experienced psychologist with expertise in various therapeutic techniques. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Alberta and a Master's in Counselling Psychology from Adler University. With over a decade of professional experience, Mr. Long specializes in Trauma-Focused interventions like EMDR, Cognitive Behavioural modalities such as ACT and CBT, Existential-Humanistic methodologies, Internal Family Systems, and specialized techniques for Chronic Pain Management like PRT and EAET. He has received extensive training at four specialized practicum sites and has also excelled as an educator, teaching five undergraduate courses. Justin has contributed significantly to the mental health community through advocacy initiatives related to youth gang prevention, indigenous decolonization, and professional education for chronic pain management. He is sought after as a speaker and has authored literature in the field. To further his professional development, Justin underwent advanced training in Eye-movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy and has incorporated Animal Assisted Psychotherapy into his practice. He is highly regarded for his dedication to advancing the understanding and treatment of mental health challenges.

Lysa Downey, BA, RMT
Registered Massage Therapist

Lysa Downey is an accomplished RMT who graduated from the Vicars School of Massage Therapy and also holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Calgary. With a robust 25 years in the dance industry, she brings a deep understanding of human kinetics to her practice. Lysa's profound experience has equipped her with insights into stretching, strengthening, and manipulating body tissues to optimize movement.

She is a firm believer in the synergy of retraining the body and applying manual therapies. This approach, she posits, can lead to enhanced posture, minimized muscle fatigue, and a reduction in overuse injuries. Lysa's method in massage therapy emphasizes an evidence-based and client-centered collaboration, ensuring a tailored treatment plan aligning with individual goals.

Outside of her professional realm, Lysa is passionate about nature, cycling, art, horticulture, and cherishing moments with her loved ones. True to her roots, she never misses an opportunity to dance.

Min Chen, RD, PhD

Dietitian

Min Chen, RD, PhD, is a distinguished dietitian with over 15 years of clinical practice as a registered dietitian in Edmonton. She holds a PhD in Nutrition and Metabolism from the University of Alberta, a Master's degree in Biochemistry, and a Bachelor's degree in Medical Nutrition with distinction, both from Zhejiang University, China.

Dr. Chen brings over two decades of experience in the field of nutrition, where she has honed her skills in managing a variety of nutritional issues across both pediatric and adult populations. Her expertise covers a wide range of conditions including cardiovascular disease, kidney disease, diabetes, and gut health concerns such as inflammatory bowel disease and celiac disease. Her research efforts have focused on the impact of dietary fats on cardiovascular risk and the preventive benefits of vitamin A on diabetes-related eye conditions.

Committed to promoting a holistic approach to diet, Dr. Chen advocates for the importance of enjoying food and tailoring nutritional plans to meet the individual needs of her patients, ensuring that dietary recommendations are practical, achievable, and sustainable.

Outside of her professional pursuits, Min enjoys an active lifestyle, often walking or bike-riding with her family. She is also passionate about culinary exploration, frequently trying and sharing new recipes and she enjoys reading in her spare time.

Recently, Dr. Chen has taken on a new role at Strathcona Physical Therapy, expanding her scope to focus predominantly on adult nutrition. In this dynamic clinical environment, she continues to apply her extensive expertise to help patients achieve their health goals.

Colette Gaultois
Office Manager
Colette moved to Edmonton from Newfoundland 11 years ago and has been working at Strathcona Physical Therapy for those 11 years ! She first started working part time then just a few years later became the office manager . Colette prides herself in building positive relationship with all of her co workers and most importantly with anyone who attends our clinic. When not at work , Colette is busy being a mom to a beautiful daughter . Colette’s loves camping , walking , spending time with her friends and her all time favorite past time is curled up with a good book.

Neha Garg
Full - time Admin
Neha is a 3rd year university student for Biological Sciences with an emphasis in Biochemistry. She is hoping to enter the medical field but not quite sure which particular field spikes her interest. In her free time, she enjoys swimming, learning new languages, with Korean and Italian on her current to do list, along with playing video games with her younger sister. She is also not afraid to get her hands dirty with activities like rock climbing and camping a yearly event. She hopes to earn her place as a valued member of the Strathcona Physical Therapy Community and help as many patients as she can from behind the front desk.

Tasnim Hossain
Part - time Admin
Tasnim Hossain, who prefers to go by 'Taz', brings a vibrant, open-minded approach to her role as a Front Desk Administrator at our clinic. Originating from Bangladesh, Taz is currently enriching her academic journey at the Concordia University of Edmonton, where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Management, now in her second year. With a career goal firmly set on becoming a professional accountant, she embodies a blend of dedication and passion towards her academic and professional endeavors.

At 22 years old, Taz's dynamic personality is complemented by her hobbies and interests outside the academic sphere. She finds joy and relaxation in driving, an activity that allows her to explore and unwind. Additionally, Taz has a profound passion for dancing, an art form that reflects her creativity and zest for life. Her open-mindedness and engaging hobbies enrich her role within our clinic, where she is not only the first point of contact for our clients but also a delightful presence in our team's dynamics.
